There seems to be nothing online about this easy way to remember a guide on praying for someone’s healing:

ALPSS stands for Abide Listen Pray Survey Stay

It’s an easy format that deviates from the over complicated 9 step healing process that one Anglican church leader taught me and a better way than praying for someone without any practice or formula at all. For people who are hurting, we don’t want to say something in prayer that is offensive like we know that their sickness is God’s way of… or that we know their disorder will be cured because… It’s so easy to miscommunicate and misinterpret isn’t it? ALPSS is a short guide for getting out of your own way and helping the person in need of healing prayer.

Abide – Remind yourself of who you are in Jesus

Listen – to the person and the Holy Spirit

Pray – short prayers are best (Be Healed); pray with authority (I have authority, be healed)

Survey – frequently check in and ask if they feel anything

Stay – the course and don’t quite too easily. Not all healings are instant so pray more. Keep praying until you see a shift.

Healing prayer

Jesus healed in 4 areas:

A man with leprosy
A man born blind
Casting out a mute spirit
Raised someone from the dead after three days

The above point on healing show that Jesus really was and is 100% God. He did things only the Divine could do. He also performed miracles that were similar to Old Testament prophets. He was and is the Messiah foretold of in the Old Testament. Jesus was and is fully human. Through his work, he showed compassion and power. When we follow His example, we further Christ’s mission to bring hope that helps to restore this broken world. Healing sometimes also leads people to salvation so any way we can make it easier to understand and practice is a win!

Through the ALPSS healing prayer method, we can approach healing prayer with humility, confidence, and love, knowing that it is God who ultimately brings healing and transformation. Stay rooted in Him and trust that the Holy Spirit is working, even when we can’t see it right away.
